60th International Customs Day Celebrated

26 January 2012 was celebrated as World Customs Day amid various programmes to mark the day. On a programme organized at the Department of Customs,  DG iterated the role of staff in achieving the goals of the Department to provide more strengthened services to the stakeholders as well as the nation. The DDGs providing their wishes on the occasion of the day also voiced the concern on the need of improving the services as well as elaborated on the slogan of the year – Borders Divide, Customs Connects. The DG on the occasion distributed awards and certificates to well performing and meritorious staff.

Similarly, a special programme was organized jointly organized by the Chamber of Commerce, FNCCI and the Department of Customs. Dignitaries including the Finance Secretary, officials from the Chamber of Commerce and FNCCI as well as previous DGs and DDGs were also invited on the occasion.

Former DG, Mr. Ramchandra Man Singh was felicitated with token of honour at the programme by the Chamber of Commerce. Likewise, chief of PCA Mr. Harisharan Pudasaini and chief of BHairahawa Customs Office, Mr. Diker Dev Bhatta were awarded as the best performing employees. Similarly, PCA Office, Dry Port Customs Office and Tatopani Customs Office were awarded as the best performing offices by the Department of Customs. Chief of Tatopani CUstoms Office Mr. Nirmal Hari Adhikari was also felicitated by the Chamber of Commerce.

Finance Secretary Krishna Hari Baskota chairing the programme, commended the helpful role being played by the business community and urged them to promote business to achieve and support national well-being.
