59th International Customs day being celebrated amid special programmes

Customs Administration is celebrating the 59th Customs Day with the theme "Knowledge, a Catalyst for Customs Excellence" amid various programmes. On the occasion, ASYCUDA Broker Module was implemented in Nepalgunj Customs Office from 08 Magh 2067 (22 Jan 2011). From now on, the customs agents can lodge declarations by themselves into the system and print it in English format. This will save time to register and lodge the declarations. Broker Module has been already implemented in Mechi, Biratnagar, Birgunj, Dry Port, Bhairahawa, Krishnanagar, TIA Cargo Complex and Tatopani also. In this context, ASYCUDA along-with Broker's Module has been already tested and is being implemented from 12 Magh 2067 (26 Jan 2011). Now, there are ten customs offices in Nepal that have ASYCUDA implemented.

In TIA Cargo Complex, personal effects is also being captured in ASYCUDA and the use of release note while releasing goods from the go-down is in the final stage of preparation.

To promote export of goods identified by Commercial Policy and NTIS for export possibility (such as readymade garments, carpet, pashmina, handicraft goods, tea, dcardamom), trade facilitation meeting was held with the stakeholders at the Department of Customs meeting hall on 9 Magh 2067(23 Jan 2011).  From the meeting, it has been expected that the Department will be able to find sectors to improve on customs act, law and classification for export oriented goods.

 On the occasion of International Customs Day, the Department has planned to publish Bhansar Karyabidhi, yearly report, updated four years action plan and current fiscal years mini plan, Bhansar Smarika and news bulletin. This will help to make the customs activities more transparent by providing information to the public. On the same occasion, web based integrated tariff is also being inaugurated to be accessed by the public from the customs website. Nepal Chamber of Commerce is organizing an interaction programme and FNCCI is celebrating World Customs Day with various programmes. Besides these, customs offices are also celebrating World Customs Day organizing various programmes. In this context, Biratnagar Customs office is celebrating by organizing cleaning programme, badminton men's double tournament and blood donation programme.
